Nina Chanel Abney
Nina Chanel Abney is an African American contemporary artist born in 1982. Abney was born in Chicago, Illinois and now lives in New York. Abney also attended Parsons School of Design in New York City, New York. Abney's work follows an interdisciplinary framework that explores various topics such as pop culture, politics, race and more. Abney's work offers a playful twist on new ways to approach hard topics, for she uses different symbols and bright hues to capture the seriousness of events. According to Abney, her work is "easy to swallow, hard to digest."
