Firelei Baez, originally from the Dominican Republic, is an influential painter who creates visuals to allow viewers to connect with the mind and body. She illustrates her work by using herself and her strong Caribbean culture to symbolize modern standards in society. Baez uses a large scale to portray her art as it shows combinations of culture, history, and self embodiment. For an example, her painting "Can I Pass" is a collage of her own hairstyles within the month expressing the self love and cultural aspect with her curly hair.
